Chocolate plus the Naki equals yum!

It’s no coincidence that a girl from the Naki who started a gift box business happens to stock some of the West Coast Cocoa product range. For one, my love of chocolate is ‘infamous’ and those who know me well will remember a time i went without chocolate chews (from the supermarket pick n mix years back) for about 4 years straight - it was such a big deal as I went cold turkey and actually never looked back…how silly was i? Secondly, this West Coast company is from my hometown of Taranaki and wherever possible, I like to support makers and shakers from the Naki. Lastly - its a no brainer really - their hot chocolate is seriously next level…read on to learn a little bit more about the brand.

How did you decide on your brand/business name/any specific meaning behind it?

We chose West Coast Cocoa Merchants because it is a double entendre for being based in Taranaki on the West Coast of NZ and for our cocoa being sourced from the renowned cocoa growing region in West Africa!

Biggest lesson you’ve learnt in business?

To always stay true to our vision as a business and our values as people.

Got a tip for the best way to use/consume your product?

Pop a tablespoon of Hot Chocolate in a milk jug and let the steam wand of your espresso machine do all the work! You will end up with a perfectly blended silky smooth mug of Hot Chocolate every time.

What are some small things that make your day?

Sunshine, good coffee, smiles 😊

What takes up too much of your time?

Deciding on what to wear each day!

Favourite thing to do to relax/unwind?

Read a good book…with a cup of hot chocolate of course!

What are you most grateful and thankful for in your life?

My family and friends and having a job that I am passionate about.

What TV show or Netflix series has you hooked at the moment?

Orange is the New Black.
